Interested in becoming a member? Although the fire company has been fortunate in having such a dedicated team of volunteers, we are always in need of more volunteers to take the strain off those who put so much effort and time into protecting our community.
In 1945 Supervisor Clarence Joslin and Frank Luba, owner of Big Maple Tavern on Route 30, talked over an idea about starting a fire department. They called an organizational meeting and seven men, Frank Luba, Harold Neahr, Gordon Volean, Nathan Vedder, Edward Mack, Andrew Stark and Bud Feilds showed up and started The Perth Volunteer Fire Department and each donated five dollars.
The Following were charter members of the department; Frank Luba, Clarence Joslin, Harold Neahr, Andrew Stark, Bud Feilds, Edward Mack, Gordon Volean, Nathan Vedder, Walter Clark, Raymond Hinkle, Edward Siegle, Fred Clark, John Harrington, Joe Renyak, David Hughes, Harry Volean, James English, Casper Smitka, Mickey Zwolak, Harold Miller, Butch Robertshaw.
We’re proud to announce that today 7 department members have successfully completed the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs - Company Officer Leadership Training class(COLT). Combined, these members donated 84 hours over the past two days and have gained valuable knowledge which enhanced their leadership skills, and are now even more prepared to serve our community with excellence and commitment. This program is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our team is ready for any challenge that comes our way. Thank you to our members for their hard work and commitment to personal and professional growth. Together, we’re building a stronger, more effective team to better serve and protect our community.
It is with heavy hearts that we remember and honor the life of Ed, a cherished member of the Perth Volunteer Fire Company for over 50 years.
